Sexual Abuse Investigations

Licensed in California, Arizona and New Mexico.

Allegations of sexual harassment or abuse are among the most serious matters an organization or a family can face. The facts need to be gathered carefully, documented clearly, and handled with respect for everyone involved. Ward’s Investigations conducts these investigations with the discretion and care they require, and delivers findings you can rely on.

What We Investigate

  • Sexual harassment in the workplace, including complaints against supervisors and co-workers
  • Allegations of sexual abuse, including incidents reported years after they happened
  • Misconduct by people in positions of trust, such as teachers, coaches, staff and volunteers
  • Harassment by text, email, social media and other online channels
  • Retaliation against people who reported misconduct or took part in an investigation

Maghen Ward is a member of ATIXA (the Association of Title IX Administrators), a professional association that trains and certifies Title IX investigators and administrators.

How an Investigation Works

  1. Confidential consultation. We discuss the situation, your goals, and any deadlines or policies that apply.
  2. Planning. We agree on the scope of the investigation, the people to interview, and the records to collect.
  3. Interviews. All interviews are trauma-informed. We interview the complainant, the respondent and witnesses, and give each the opportunity to share their account and any evidence.
  4. Evidence collection. We gather and preserve documents, messages, photos, video, social media posts and public records, and research relevant history such as prior complaints.
  5. Written report. You receive a clear, organized report of the facts and evidence for review by administrators or attorneys.

Confidentiality and Care

Everyone involved in these cases deserves to be treated with dignity. The identities of complainants and witnesses are shared only with those who need to know.
